Breathing Chaos

Electro-magnet, Iron, Resin, Magnetic Fluid, Computer Program
2004

In the middle of the gallery sits a small table and a large plate.
From this plate, black fluid grows into a pointed mountain with a surface multiplying into a myriad of smaller spikes, each swaying as if alive.
This strange growing and melting mountain is made up of magnetic fluid and iron sculpture.
It is a fluid formed by ferro magnetic micro-powder dissolved in a solvent.
Sachiko Kodama has designed it to transform and she carefully orchestrates most of its movement, but not all, to create this dynamic sculpture with a very sensitive chaos.
